Dr Deanne Hawkins MAPS FCCLP

Clinical Psychologist (adult)

 

Deanne is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with a 10+ year background in specialist psychological assessments, psychotherapy, training and supervision.

 

Deanne completed her undergraduate training and Honours Degree at The University of Queensland followed by her Postgraduate training at Queensland University of Technology. She offers individual psychotherapy for patients aged 18 years+ and has undertaken additional study and specialist training in the Conversational Model – an evidence-based form of relational psychotherapy that integrates aspects of neuroscience, attachment theory, developmental psychology, and linguistics in both Short and Long-term Psychotherapeutic approaches. 

 

She has worked in Public inpatient and out-patient mental health units, child and youth mental health, an infant parent clinic as well as the specialist emergency services and university sector. Her research has focused on building resilience and preventing depression and she has published in peer-reviewed journals on the topics of memory reconsolidation treatment for Police Officers with PTSD; and social problem solving.  

 

Deanne has an interest in all general adult psychological presentations and especially mood disorders, trauma related difficulties, interpersonal and relationship stressors, existential concerns, life transitions and adjustment including the psychological development and adjustment within and across specialist work roles and settings, health behaviour change and adjustment to injury. She is committed to supporting patients navigate a wide range of emotional, mental health and personal development needs, manage symptoms and better understand themselves in order to work through common inner conflicts and tensions that are often the underlying drivers of emotional turmoil and difficulty.
